Dysport 500 Units from the French manufacturer Ipsen Pharma is derived from pure botulinum toxin produced by a specific type of bacteria. The company employs a unique technology to refine and purify the toxin, ensuring its safety for use in reducing wrinkles and folds caused by facial expressions. When injected into the skin, it blocks certain proteins in the nerve cells, preventing nerve endings from receiving signals from the brain. How do you reconstitute 500 units of Dysport?
Each 500 Unit vial of DYSPORT is to be reconstituted with 2.5 mL of preservative-free 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP prior to injection.

Is Dysport stronger than Botox?
One of the key distinctions between Dysport and Botox is their approved usage areas. Dysport is mainly utilized for addressing glabellar lines, which are the frown lines between the eyebrows, making it an excellent choice for those with moderate to severe frown lines.
In contrast, Botox is versatile and can treat various types of wrinkles, including crow’s feet, forehead lines, and laugh lines. For individuals with mild to moderate wrinkles, Botox may be the preferred option.
Some users report that Dysport delivers quicker results, with visible wrinkle reduction occurring within 2-3 days. Botox typically takes about a week for results to appear, but both treatments reach their maximum effect around 2 weeks. In terms of duration, both Dysport and Botox last approximately 3-4 months.
Additionally, a single unit of Botox is roughly three times more potent than a unit of Dysport. This doesn’t imply that Botox is more effective; it simply means that more Dysport is needed for similar results. However, since the cost per unit of Dysport is lower, the overall expense for achieving comparable outcomes is roughly the same.

DYSPORT is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any botulinum toxin products, cow’s milk protein, or to any of the components in the formulation, or infection at the proposed injection site(s). Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, serum sickness, urticaria, soft tissue edema, and dyspnea have been reported. If such a serious reaction occurs, discontinue DYSPORT and institute appropriate medical therapy immediately.
Storage & USE Precautions
- Unused Dysport may be stored in the original container in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F) for up to 24 hours
- Protect from light
- Discard reconstituted Dysport if not used within 24 hours
- Do not freeze reconstituted Dysport
- Discard the vial and needle in accordance with local regulations
